Staying out of 18-Wheeler’s Blind Spots

18-Wheeler tractor trailers can be very scary to drive with! However, becoming aware of their various blind spots can greatly decrease the risks involved with driving alongside these massive vehicles! It seems too often that 18-wheelers are unaware of other motorists and force them off the roadways in very close calls!

These tractor trailers have blind spots in the front, both sides and behind them. This creates a lot of dangerous situations on the road and sometimes leads to horrible accidents. Next time you are driving on a highway with an 18-wheeler you should be aware of the danger areas surrounding their truck and remember, just because you can see them does NOT mean that they can see you!

The diagram below is a very helpful representation of the different blind spots that 18-wheeler truck drivers have on the road.

Furthermore, it is important to remember that even knowing where a truck’s blind spots does not mean there are no risks involved in passing a truck. You should still use extreme caution when passing an 18 wheeler, considering they often weigh 80,000!
