Anthem, Inc. the country’s second-largest health insurer disclosed yesterday that the personal data of about 80 million customers and employees was accessed by hackers. Anthem said that the personal information accessed included names, birthdays, addresses and Social Security numbers.
New Yorkers might now Anthem better as the company which offers Blue Cross Blue Shield. According to the Wall Street Journal article, Anthem is based in Indianapolis and is formerly known as WellPoint. The hacked database included information for some current and former customers as well as the company’s own employees.
