If you live on the east coast, then you already know how miserably cold its been in recent weeks! A tremendous winter storm called Storm Grayson just finishing running through the New York City area, leaving behind substantial snowfall and frigid temperatures.
Although Grayson is finally clearing the NYC area, the winter weather is far from over! Shocking new forecasts show an even colder weather system following on the heels of Storm Grayson to further disrupt residents throughout the Eastern United States. Weather Channel meteorologist Heather Tesch said: “We can still see more wintery weather. This time though we are looking at more of an ice event in the days to come. What we have going for us is a lot of moisture coming up and to add to that some very cold air that is going to be coming down.”
Forecasts expect the colder weather system to hit the Atlantic coast with sleet and more freezing rain around Monday, January 8th. Additionally, according to the National Weather Service, an Arctic outbreak will keep temperatures 20 to 30 degrees below average across the northeastern US.
In addition to making life uncomfortable for New Yorkers, these weather patterns will create dangerous conditions for many across the US! Snow and ice are covering the sidewalks all over the city which has created very slippery and dangerous conditions for pedestrians! Additionally, New York drivers face the dangers of limited visibility, slippery roads and possibly malfunctioning brakes when they drive in this extreme weather.
At the Law Office of Richard Kenny we urge everyone to stay safe through this prolonged weather system! Avoid unshoveled streets, icy pathways and always utilize handrails whenever possible. When driving, be aware of pedestrians and give your car plenty of time to come to a complete stop when approaching stop lights and other intersections.
