Drunk Driver Causes Crash

Drunk driving has been proven time and time again to be a bad decision and cause horrific injuries and deaths. This was shown true yet again this past weekend when a Connecticut man died and another was arrested on drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter charges after a crash on the Bruckner Expressway on Sunday night.

The New York Fire Department says the crash happened just before 7 p.m. Sunday on the Bruckner Expressway near the exit for Country Club Road. A 30-year-old man died after the crash in which local police say the Nissan SUV he was riding in struck the back of parked backhoe along the Bruckner Expressway.
The driver is believed to have been driving while intoxicated when he lost control of the Nissan while driving three passengers, including the passenger that died. The car rammed into a concrete barrier and crashed into an unoccupied, parked construction vehicle. The driver, who is charged with driving while intoxicated, and the two surviving passengers were hospitalized.
Drunk driving can not only hurt you as a driver, but also your passengers and the other drivers and passengers on the road around you. In the New York area these days, there are so many ways to avoid driving while under the influence. Call an Uber, Lyft, Via or even hail a yellow cab. Arrange for a friend or family member to be your designated driver for the evening or call them after you unexpectedly had too much to drink.
